Welcome!
This for my Play By Post with Brad Kerrs patreon setting These Sorcerous Lands.
Did a bluesky posts on this - though I think putting it into forum posts would be cool. + it’s my bucket list to return here with something … post worthy.
I’ve not done this report kinda thing before so… just going by what I think… I’d read? and hopefully it’s something useful / entertaining for others
The Setup
Discord = Out of Character Chat - One channel
Then, I broke into smaller threads (All set to 1 week before it gets hidden from the sidebar; kind of annoying but … makes sense…)
The threads:
- In-player (The thinking is to separate it into per week, before we do a new thread)
- Lore - Anything player facing
- Characters - Players post their sheets here for reference and descriptors (this is new as, I’m doing some OC art for them)
- Map - Player facing images / map
Oh, forgot about attaching images; oh well. see above
Alpha prefixes for any informational things.
Then Numerics to keep track of sessions.
Now… I did a new addtion to the setup, where I added Figma
I really needed a whiteboard type thing happening; as this is how my brain works to sort things out and orientate to TTRPG worlds / information.
I thought about was the whole Hex map. - sort of a disservice if it wasn’t previewed to players… right? never ran one; so I don’t know if this is just handed out or fog-of-war piece meal.
Since this is really a Hex Crawl setting - I needed a quick way to update and reference as the players moved - but it needed to be easy enough for me to add + share with the group.
So Figma Jam enters the chat.
This allows me also add my OC art for the group + a quick way to remind myself visually - where we are at in the game.
The Hex map is more for the players (and me) - not characters. As I am making a illustrated map as they move:
Also doing some Snapshot Art as they progress in the world:
Will post in social media etc etc, but def’ will run it into the forum first to get my words right. (In theory)
I’ll update this post again soon - I just have to attend something… brb.
