Trespasser dropped its new playtests! OSRish procedures with grid combat a little like D&D 4e. Excited to see more from this
There’s a few things I have my eye on.
Cursed Zines #4-6 from Shadowdark are kickstarting this spring should expand options for playing that game in the Jungle, Underdark, and Urban settings. I’ve enjoyed the past entries as they offer contained regional sandboxes that are perfect for smaller campaigns that primarily centered around 1 dungeon with a distinct theme.
I also like the sound of the newly announced “Dungeon of the Undermoon” from Necrotic Gnome. As well as the rumblings I’ve heard about Brad Kerr’s new adventure for Merry Mushmen. As to whether those will actually be available this year seems like a toss up.
There’s several crowd funded adventures that I am waiting to come home to roost such as Interloper, Caverns of Thracia for DCC , and The Ghosts of Zoazanna Mountain Ditto with the Cairn 2e boxed set and Dolmenwood.
It feels like soon I’ll be spoiled for options in terms of systems and adventures.
brads new adventure (I got to playtest the first bit) is part of a bigger collaboration. its designed to be nice and easy for beginner DMs. I think its supposed to fit in as a classic OSR adventure, but a bit longer, solid and perfect for newbies. I would gather the art budget is going to be very high for it as well…
yeah I read the review as well and got quite interested in the kickstarter. It feels a lot along the vibes of projects I’m working on and seems like great inspiration. Sooo I’m stuck if I want yet another printed book of something I will not play in the end
What is Brad’s new adventure? Is it up on KS now?
It’s going in the upcoming OSE Box set.
Even for a game that’s already available for PDF, I’m excited to receive my Kickstarter copy of Cairn 2nd Edition. Once I receive it, I plan to sit down with the Warden’s Guide and prep a setting with the Warden’s Guide.
Boats have docked… soon.
Vaults of Vaarn 2e?!
Not sure it’s coming this year, but I know it’s in the works.
Not really an RPG, but I’m excited to check out the final form of Chris McDowall’s skirmish game MAC Attack.
And I’m doing some illustrations for In Ruins, by M. Allen Hall–i havent actually seen the text yet, but it sounds suuuuper cool! It’s a map drawing game using a standard deck of cards to play through three phases–collaborative castle building, castle ruination, and then competition for the resulting ruined castle. At the end you have a dungeon populated with factions that you could use in a different game!
That necrotic gnome dungeon moon thing sounds very intriguing, too!
I’m eagerly waiting for the Mausritter “Tomb of a Thousand Doors” megadungeon book to arrive. It looks amazing, the art looks great, and the A4 landscape format I think will make it great to read every section at once (but I know I’m biased as I wrote a couple entries and helped with editing).
For me it’s:
- Pendragon 6e Gamemaster’s Book
- QuestWorlds (finally!?)
- Glorantha: Gods of Fire & Sky
- Cthulhu by Gaslight Keeper’s Guide
- OSRIC 3e
- Mythmere’s Worldbuilding & Names books
- Ashes Without Number
- Whatever the upcoming HarnQuests are for this year
- Whatever Kelestia Productions puts out to support HarnMaster Kelestia
- Ars Magica Definitive Edition
- The various kickstarters that will be shipping this year, Cairn and Dolmenwood and such
- Maybe the upcoming edition of Stay Frosty - mostly depends on what the update will include
- Maybe getting more news about Mark Smylie’s Artesia BRP game
- More info on the next edition of RuneQuest
Oh yeah, and Caleb’s Let Us Build A Tower, which I guess technically is part of the “stuff I’ve backed that I’m waiting on” category, but I’m particularly excited for it.
