Next month I will launch Cairn Press. As part of that I tried to make a publishing agreement that is fair, free, and mutually beneficial. Once the lawyer approves the final contract I’ll release it as CC-BY-SA, if possible.
I’ve also written up a “plain English” version that you can read here:
I just want you to know I appreciate what you’ve done with Cairn and what you’re doing here, especially the level of transparency. I think it can be daunting for new creators to navigate the publishing side of the hobby, and efforts like this make it that much easier.
Very cool! I appreciate the plain English version.
Q: when it says “Modules and supplements for other systems are only accepted if presented as full conversions.”
My guess is this means something like Valley of the Flowers (which is dual started Cairn and B/X) would be accepted, but LH the Mall Redux wouldn’t qualify since it is advertised as LH and lists a bunch of ways to convert it to other systems in the back (it says something like if it’s an into the odd game, just change ctrl to will).
I am absolutely serious that if you want to pitch me an idea I will give a go at writing it and turn the results over to the press. Of course this is dependent on me actually finishing it and you liking the result.
