In the spirit of focusing on appendix N’s as a means to communicate WHAT A WORK IS ALL ABOUT… eastern European animation, both in style and substance is foundational for me, but I think doesn’t get the love it should. For consideration, some clips from this ON THE NOSE Troika!/into the odd movie:

full movie is streaming at criterion, free 7 day trial!

full movie here! this one leans hard into post modernism style cross mediums, and also uses stop motion as a great signifier of THE UNCANNY.

and of course, fantastic planet:

pied Piper! In case the video is not working, its on archive.org as: Krysar The Pied Piper Of Hamelin (Jirí Barta, 1985)

Gotta love Švankmajer. I assume you’re also familiar with the Brothers Quay, who were deeply influenced by his work. Their adaptation of Bruno Schulz’s Street of Crocodiles was a revelation to me.
