Dangerously Untested: DCC Inspired House-rules for The Black Hack

Some silly house rules I cooked up a couple years ago for a campaign that never really took off. Looking at it now there’s some stuff I think would be rather fun and might actually work. But I’ll probably never know since I’ve gone in a different direction with stuff. Thought I’d share so it wasn’t just another random document waiting to be deleted some day.

Love this! While looking at my bookshelf I realize: Black Hack 2e was my first OSR style system, DCC is the current favourite of my players (and they want to play mothership next  )

BUT I would have never thought of playing a DCC adventure with the black hack! And as it seems the conversion is very easy! :exploding_head: I got so many and much more adventures for DCC (and yes I really like them and their writing style as well) that this combination makes even more sense!

To port the funnel idea from DCC is of course a ‘no brainer’ (see OSE carcass crawler for example) but you also ported the main ideas of the DCC classes, and I think really successfully!

This is a great conversion that not needs to hide (and get lost) on some hard drive! put it on itch or DriveThru I think it has the level!

Do you think its possible to somehow use DCC spells in the black hack? That would be a next logical step for me (in porting/converting stuff thats special for DCC)

anyhow, awesome stuff here

Thanks! Yeah, Black Hack can run just about anything without too much trouble given the ‘Every Monster’ ideas on page 80 make quick rough conversions easy. DCC monsters don’t really follow a normal HD logic so just eye ball it and go. You really can’t mess it up. Who cares if a monster is a little more or a little less powerful? Your players will probably just want to kill it.

I did think about DCC magic but decided the magical side effects in TBH was enough to scratch that itch at the time. The full spell tables weren’t something I was prepared to fiddle with, but I was eyeballing the patron stuff pretty hard.

Thanks again for positive words!
