I really like that story and you talking through your friend’s character gen. I remember an actual play from Judd the Librarian using Burning Wheel rules and it was about an ordinary person (look up The Shoeless Peasant on YT).
Burning Wheel is suuuuper crunchy but was definitely something that made me think the ordinary would be “playable”. Looking forward to hearing about the adventures!!
I wrote a Burning Wheel hack once!
It really caught my attention with it’s focus on narrative, but I never could parse it all, so I tried to make something a bit simpler, but it probably lost the magic along the way… I’m sure I could dredge it up.
