I’ve been mulling over this topic for a long time, finally wrote my thoughts on this down.

I really likes this, and it reminds me of some of the best town designs in computer games like Age of Decadence. The feeling of exploring a strange new place doesn’t have to be limited to wild fastnesses where you’re there to kick in the door and loot; remote settlements, too, can be navigating like so many interlocking rooms.
