that IS an interesting video essay. for creators, very instructive on how to thread the needle (even if it’s the usual representation advice, just nice to see some good practical examples)
The big takeaway for me was (paraphrasing), “there is nothing wrong with having a world that is unkind to characters with dwarfism, so long as it teaches you something about the world.”
This was a cool video. It also informed me that Greta Gerwig is making a Narnia film which I find very exciting, because Narnia hasn’t yet been done right.
Haha. My takeaway as well. Greta and Noah make good things. Also fun that there is reverse partner erasure with them.
I like this. It feels like it’s trying to highlight the difference between meaningful and gratuitous inclusion of topics like discrimination and other difficult subjects.
