Very interesting. Running hundreds of sessions in a West Marches game, I had a similar experience, where the players eventually coalesced into several distinct groups. But even after it was no longer really a West Marches game in format, I found a lot of the West Marches DNA and structure was still useful, as the sessions stayed open-table and fixed on player-driven goals.

I’m curious why you posted this.

Without the later columns detailing the changes he experienced in modern play, the post feels a bit threadbare.

Did the ‘89 game’s mitosis into three home games catch your interest?
