Wyrd Morava - Zine and Setting

https://iwarthehomeless.itch.io/wyrd-morava-i

Hi Everyone,

I just finished Wyrd Morava I, an NSR / OSR Zine, designed for Cairn 2e.
It outlines a setting Wyrd Morava, based on Slavic mythology and real world history, with a drop of acid. The zine contains a dungeon adventure, settlement with NPCs and hooks, artefacts, new character backgrounds, new monsters, some random tables for psychoactive mushrooms, drugs, meads and drinks. And perhaps some other things which I forgot.

The current version was designed for Cairn 2e, I plan to put out an OSE (B/X) version in the next weeks.

It’s free and I’m happy to share it with you all. There is a PWYW option but only if you really want. It’s also my first real publication, self published and all.

Hope you enjoy it

I only had a chance to skim through it, but it looks great! I hope you continue the project.

I see Slavic mythology, and I am intrigued! Definitely going to check this out.

Thanks so much  let me know what you think once you gave it a read. I do hope to continue it. I have some ideas for the next issues already.

I mean one of the things that led me to putting this out there was a lack of materials and resources from Slavic influence. There is Czorny Gron, which is a great book and resource. It is set in about the 17th century. I recommend it, if you haven’t haven’t had a chance to see it yet.

Ooo, I actually picked up a copy of that from the Exalted Funeral sale. I have been eyeing it quite a while.

Opened up the zine, and I am going to look at it right now!

I just got way tired, so I got until about the mines. I’ll finish up later.
First bit of feedback is that I LOVE that you included the Slavic spellings of things and included a pronunciation guide. Reading something like Červen is way better than an anglicized version in my opinion.

So far, very interesting. I feel like I already have a good handle on the NPCs and could probably play them without issue. I also thought it was cool that the adventure hooks are so varied. I love when conflicts arise from the NPCs wanting different things. :light_blue_heart:
I am keen on seeing more of the mythological stuff that I skimmed in the mines and bestiary sections.

My only request so far is to include a name list/table in one of the future issues. I really struggle to name characters, so name lists are very helpful to me (and hopefully others).

Thanks for the feedback and for finding the time for it

I have a huge list of old Czech and Slovak names - taken from old calendars and I think I can add it in a future version, or in the updated OSE version. Thought I’d have time to do the touch ups already, buuuut life. Would be very interested in your feedback on the mines as well.

it’s an intro dungeon and I built it around the Zungeon Jam. I just played it again recently with new players and while they enjoyed it I began to see various touch ups I should do to it. never enough playtesting
