Hi!
aia here: I’m from Italy, player since 1985, GM some years later, collector from the 90s! My comfortable zone are Fantasy RPGs, starting from D&D (the red box) and going on… since a couple of years I try also to be an author: during COVID (like many ppl) I kicked off a project that was lingering since 2002/2003 or so… Now I (self)published the rules, some adventures and some other supplements… needless to say a boring fantasy RPG! Call it heartbreaker or what you prefer, the real point is that it was the right moment to write it since my purpose is not to offer another FRPG but rather try to achieve something different. For the time I stop here, I would otherwise need to write too much!
Last piece of info: I am here since a very kind person pointed me out this place from Substack (where I am currently active!).
Thanks and talk to you soon! Ciaooo

Hello all!

I play a variety of NSR games but I enjoy a broad variety of ttRPGs. My play history reaches back to B/X D&D in the early 1980s. Like many others, life created a break in my hobby in the late 1990s and I came back to it as the OSR was heating up with the launch of Google Plus.

What I love about the NSR is how people reach back to the beginning and then create games based on those foundations applying everything we’ve leaned in the past 50+ years!

I’m thrilled to find this forum full of so much creative activity!

Hi!
I am an eager RPG reader, collector, Solo RPG player and GM eventhough I get to play rarerly (but want to more).
I am as well interested in the gamedesign aspects (coming from boardgames) and art (coming from music). I just love what came out in the past years through indie publishing but also in the general RPG world and the OSR/NSR has a special place in my heart!
I work as well at a shool and therefore get to experience RPGs with kids, which is super interesting.

Hi, I’m Chi! I’ll keep this short for now because my priority was to join this forum. I’ve been saying forever that I missed forums, so 2025 may as well be the year when I do my part to bring them back, even if they never completely went away.

I have created some TTRPG content, but my current aim is to get out there and play.

Hi, I’m Shannon. I blog at The Novel Game Master where I write about narrative in TTRPGs. I’m relatively new to the blogging and OSR scene - been hanging out in the Prismatic Discord for a bit and found this through Yochai’s blog.

Looking forward to engaging in creative and productive discussions here!

Hi folks! I’m DubiousPenguin on this side of the Web (you can also find me on the Giant in the Playground Forums, and hopefully soon on RPG Pub once they’ve verified my registration, or whatever it is these clever forum people do).

I found this place via this blog post, which I found in turn via the 209th weekly link round-up by Seed of Worlds. It was very serendipitous timing, because I have of late been joining a fair few forums on other parts of the internet. I recently deleted my Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter accounts, and I’m really excited to be moving to a form of online communication where the pace is slower and people can think before they type.

I’ve been playing RPGs regularly since I first played D&D 5e in 2019, but when I was a child, my dad used to run Warhammer Fantasy one-shots, so perhaps it’s no surprise that I consider TTRPGs the biggest part of my life! I’m currently running two 5e campaigns, one of which is a good old homebrew campaign in my own world, and the other of which is a play-by-post run through The Sunless Citadel. The latter is my first time using PbP, and I’ve fallen in love with it.

I’m also currently a player in two other campaigns: a D&D 5e campaign with a few players who are new to the game (and the hobby in general), and a Warhammer Fantasy campaign run by my cousin. I love how gritty that one can be. I’ve probably got a few more old-school leanings than many of the people I play D&D with, so the Warhammer campaign lets me scratch that particular itch. :slightly_smiling_face:

Anyway, it’s great to be here, and I can’t wait to get to know you all a bit more as I take part in forum discussions with you!

Hi Mike! It’s great to have you here! I absolutely love all the resources you’ve put out. I’ve been using the Lazy DM Checklist to plan sessions for years now, and as I type this I’ve got your Lazy Encounter Benchmark article open in another tab ready for my session tonight. Thanks for all you do!

Hello everyone,

Iwar here, based in Slovakia (and sometimes Normany, France and Prague). Really glad to have found this space, through the NSR Discord and Yochai Gal’s articles.

I really love world-building in particular, thinking about theory and creating my own hacks and houserules. I DM a couple of games for my friends and colleagues, run one open table game in my home town and have a blog and now an itch.

Recently, when beginning work on a new game, I’ve come to realize that my approach to my own games is more NSR than OSR.

A solarpunk enthusiast.

gary he/him hobbyist game designer. I have been making games for me and my friends since I was kid. I’m really into design theory, and dabble in RPG history. Sometimes I put up stuff on Itch if it’s something I am really proud of. I really like talking about design theory and am going to see if this will scratch my itch for longer form discussion into that.

hello I’m alex/bas-lumen and got into gaming via fighting fantasy, warhammer, the '83 basic set and a loooong duo game of FASERIP marvel superheroes. Good times. I bounced back into the hobby via the forge in the noughties and then back again the last couple of years, with more of an interest in the OSR. Always appreciated forum discussion so hope to participate here when I can!

Hi! I’m Javi, a veteran GM from Argentina. I’m an old fan of World of Darkness / Chronicles o Darkness games, but a few years ago I fell in love with the OSR / NSR style of play and philosophy and now run most anything I can get my hands into. I’m a lazy GM who’s obsessed about finding better ways to do more with less, which of course led me to game design. No game yet, but on it nonetheless.

Hi, I’m UnderwaterOwlbear. I like OSR games, NSR games, and wargames. I’m looking for a slower-paced, traditional forum community to discuss those hobbies (discord and bsky are too ephemeral for me).
