I’m Dave of Magnum Galaxy Games. I’ve been playing and writing mostly Mothership adventures for the last few years. I love forums and used to be a regular back in the G+ Days. Hoping to make this a hangout and take part in some awesome RPG conversations!
Hi all, I’m Josh – I’m from the UK, living in Europe, and have been DMing games like Stars/Worlds/Cities Without Number, Godbound, GURPS, Shadow of the Demon Lord, Honey Heist, Trails of Cthulu and a few OSR adjacent games of my own devising for some years now.
Here to try and find some community on the dying husk that is the modern internet
Currently, my players are patiently letting me prototype some new game mechanics on them. I’m working on how to make exploration and environmental threats as tactically rich as combat, but without bogging everything down in Pathfinder style crunch. I doubt the system will ever make it off my harddrive, but its fun to play with.
welcome aboard matey.
I’m Liz, aka Magnolia Keep. I like to blog, I designed an incomplete game about submarines, and that’s most of the interesting stuff I can come up with. I’m based in the US for now, and am currently working on changing that.
I came to the O/NSR via more narrative focused games, and a lot of that still permeates my work. I’m hoping to talk shop and meet all y’all!
He everyone I’m Tony, publishing under the name Revivify Games. I love NSR games, drawing dungeons and converting people away from 5e (but don’t hate it/still play it). By day I am a creative director/graphic designer and making TTRPG stuff is a creative escape to me.
I’m Yarrow — a newbie player (5e) and GM (Shadowdark), something which has (unfortunately for my wallet) reactivated my forty-year-old hobby of buying RPG books for games which I’m very unlikely ever to play.
Welcome to the party, mate. How are you enjoying running shadowdark? Anything you like or dislike about it in particular?
I appreciate the simplicity of Shadowdark’s rules as compared to 5e, and particularly the relative absence of perception/investigation/persuasion rolls.
Hi, I’m Markus! I also go by Personable in RPG spheres. I’ve been following indie RPGs for the past few years, playing less than I would like, but enough that I should probably be happy about it.
At the moment, most of my play happens in a Songbirds 3e campaign I run weekly with some local friends, and an online open-table Mothership game I join most weeks. In lieu of actually playing, I like reading and thinking about games, and some of these thoughts can be found on my blog, Personable Thoughts. I also occasionally put things on itch, where I release everything I do for free, because I do not want to have to figure out how I should pay taxes on it.
My OSR cardinal sin is that I actually quite like the 5e skill roll system, it’s the rest of the bloat around it that I’m not a fan of.
I signed up here in the aftermath of Yochai talking about it on B2C, and then promptly forgot to post an introduction because I had to go back to work. I’m back here now, weeks later, and hoping that finally posting an introduction will reinvigorate the poster’s spirit of my youth.
Yeah, the more OSR style of “describe what you do” instead of “roll for what you do”. Very cool.
Hello! I’m Joanna, I’ve been playing NSR games and other RPGs for several years, mostly running games for 1 or 2 players. I’m a big fan Into the Odd, weird fiction & fantasy horror adventures, and recently am a bit obsessed with His Majesty the Worm.
Hi, I’m Carson. I make RPG content (mostly for Mothership) under the name Single Stage to Orbit Press. I’ve lurked in Discord for a little while and decided to join the forum version for a change of pace.
Hell yea. Id live to get HMtW to the table! Have you played at all? Need to wrap my head around the cards before i drop it in my players.
Hello! I’m one of those “forever DMs” who has been playing since the early 90s. Started with WFRP, then moved on to AD&D 2e and have been rattling around ever since in one capacity or another. I sometimes make stuff, mostly for Foundry VTT but also the odd map or character sheet or whatever.
Lately I’ve been playing DCC and Mothership, and looking to try a whole slew of other games including Shadowdark, Mausritter, and SWADE.
Hi! My name is Jordan. I’ve been playing ttrpgs since AD&D in the late 90’s. I love to read and discuss about my hobby. Today, I play almost entirely online using Foundry VTT. I ran Stonehell (using OSE) as an open table for 3+ years/200+ sessions; this game came to a close in February 2025. Right now, I’m running a smaller game of Forbidden Lands with some friends made on that open table.
I just started to write stuff for TTRPGs; you can find links to all my stuff on my website. I want to create adventure modules, especially as Foundry module. I would love it if more creator and publishers made what I call SAAMs for Foundry; that would be more in line with OSR principles.
I’m also a cegep philosophy teacher. I teach in french, which is also my primary language.
Hi, my name is Paul! I am fairly new to TTRPGs, my first go at a game was 5e a couple years ago. I tried DMing a starter adventure for my kids and it went horribly as I felt confined by the narrative in the module. This resulted in me feeling like I needed to keep a group of kids from using their imaginations and stay on track. I forget how, but around the same time I somehow came across Mork Borg and ended up running a one shot for my kids with it and it was a blast. I felt I had the flexibility to let them do whatever crazy things they could come up with and use my imagination on how to make it work and progress the story. Flexible rules and loose narrative guardrails were exactly what I needed. Since then I’ve gone down the rabbit hole and own too many books and RPGs, but it fills my mind with wonder and I feel like a kid again.
Aside from that, I work as a systems analyst supporting finance systems at the company I’ve been at for 22 years now. But that’s the boring side of my life.
Thanks for having me, I look forward to getting to know the community here!
Hello. I’m darjr. I was at the GaryCon panel and called Matt the humble elephant in the room.
Howdy! I’m Some Lost Caws (Trey) and I’ve played TTRPGs for a decade, but am only ~2 years into OSR-style play.
I’m also about two years into growing as an illustrator. I’m finally to the point where I can bring (some of) my ideas to life! I’ve made a couple zines and hope to eventually graduate onto some some bigger projects.
Hello! I’m Carl. I started an 18+ tabletop game club at my local library last year and we now have over 50 members! We meet every other Tuesday and host a Saturday mini-con quarterly.
I’m starting to run more convention games and just really enjoy running and playing adventure games.
I learned about this forum from a podcast, and Yochai was right. I found his blog and on there was a link to this place – Google does not like this!
Fight the power!
Hi, I’m Oozejar
I’ve rediscovered the joy of making TTRPG stuff a few years ago thanks to Cairn and the wider OSR/NSR community.
D&D 3e was the best English manual I had in high school, but I remember having more fun with Star Wars D6. Fast forward twenty-odd years and I’ve translated Cairn 1e into Japanese, drawn the 145 monsters from the Cairn Bestiary, and wrote a birdy module for Mausritter. I’m currently working on a Cairn adventure I hope to publish sometime soonish.
I have a hard time keeping up with how fast things are moving on Discord, so I’m glad to have been directed here
