Introduce Yourself!

Hello there! I am Errant, and I’m thinking about a lot of things. :]

I got into TTRPGs with DnD 3.5e from the Basic Game Box set and been loving TTRPGs since. Things I’ve played range from DnD3.5 - 5.5e, PF 1&2e, Shadowrun, Arc DOOM, the Bastionlands, Wolves Upon the Coast, Blades in the Dark, Mork Borg, and many more. Especially in the past year I have explored many TTRPGs.

I am a big fan of design in general and TTRPG scene has given me a good experience in learning and practicing game design!

I’ve been working on making my own story card game and my own OSR light weight system. It’s been fun and I look forward to making and playing more!

Also I have and will be posting more to my blog on various things. So far its been mostly engagement with the OSR Santicorn community blog event, though more variety is for sure to occur.

Howdy, I’m Xaran!

I got my start in TTRPGs about 15 years ago with D&D 3.5. While I still play a bit of D&D 5e, my interest lies primarily in the OSR and indie spaces. I’m currently running Call of Cthulhu and Kevin Crawford’s Worlds Without Number. My favorite game is Burning Wheel. At the least it has shaped how I run and think about TTRPGs.

While I follow a lot of OSR/NSR blogs, I’ve been thinking about starting my own.

Hey y’all. Park Cooper here. TTRPG-wise, I’m on itch: https://wickermanstudios.itch.io/ I also write and edit fiction (both novels and graphic novels) with my wife Barb Lien-Cooper under the title Wicker Man Studios www.wickermanstudios.com . I’m currently working on 2 or 3 different rpg projects-- a sci-fi solo rpg, and a couple of other things that are even more secret right now

Hi, I’m Mark Craddock. I own 2 comic and game stores in KY. Our stores have been open since 1981 and I’ve worked there since 1999. My in-laws founded it, my wife and I currently run it, and our 3 adult kids work there too. I also have the Cross Planes blog, www.crossplanes.com that has been actives since 2012. I cover D&D, the OSR, and cross genre gaming and have published around 20 PDF products for OSE, Black Hack, Shadowdark, Savage Worlds, DnD 5E, Cypher System, & the Quantum Engine on DriveThruRPG. I’m currently developing a megadungeon for open play and possibly for publishing.

hello, I’m Jared. I played tons of TTRPGs 25 years ago, but I only got back into them a couple of years ago due to being a parent and wanting to share the hobby with my kids. I played more L5R than anything else, back when I used to play. It is absolutely amazing to come back to the hobby and see all the innovation.

I started out trying to play 5e with my (middle school age) kids, but we quickly found out that we needed something else. It’s hard to describe, because on the one hand they begged to play more, but on the other hand the games would fall flat. As though the idea of the game was amazing, and we were trying to make it click. It finally all clicked when we found Dungeon World. For any of you who have/had kids that watch the Wild Kratts show, one of my kids basically played a druid as though he was in this show. It was great. It was, however, tough for me to constantly be improvising in the way that made it fun, I am more the boring engineer type than a creative. It was this that led me to the style of play that folks like you in this forum seem to enjoy. I know Dungeon World is touted as zero prep, but I never found that I could pull that off (that said, it usually only took one good-ish idea to launch a whole 3 or 4 hour session, but it would take me a day or two to get a good idea).

My goal is to get some kind of sandbox game going with them that is more low-prep and based on random generation. maybe some kind of point/hex-crawl. I realize that there are loads of low-prep modules available out there, and I’ve used a bunch of them (but with DW), but even so it would be nice to have something more emergent. maybe I’m asking for too much.

I thought I would say hello and introduce myself in hopes of meeting other people who are thinking about similar things. If so, please say hello!

Hello! I’m edward. Only got into RPGs as an adult and really fell in love with the concept of them and the collaborative spirit I’ve found in the hobby. I’m especially interested in getting into solo RPGs.

I’m primarily a writer of fiction, with several books published and several more on the way. I’m also slowly dipping my toes into game design.

Happy to be here!

There’s been a flood of solo play materials released in the past few years, so you should have a lot to choose from! I’ve picked up a few to see how they operate, though I’ve nowhere near enough experience to actually recommend anything.

Yeah, it becomes almost a new problem, ha! You step up to the buffet and find it overflowing with unfamiliar but delicious looking food. Where to start!?

A good problem to have, no doubt

Hi, you can call me CC.

Started playing D&D 3.5 in college, we moved on to 5E, and I started GM’ing, then we moved to PF2E after the OGL stuff. At some point I realized I dislike GM’ing crunchy systems, so we moved on to Cairn and loved it.

Love the open source and inclusive spirit in some parts of the RPG space and really appreciate the attempt of cultivating forums here over walled gardens. Usually am more of a lurker, but want to try and contribute more.

Hi all,

a Spaniard, forty something years old here. For our generation, in Spain, Old School was MERP, Runequest and CoC.

Now, I’m discovering an all new Old School and Cairn in special.

Hi!!

I’m David and I’ve been lurking around the OSR/NSR for a few years now. In that time I’ve slowly been chipping away at my own hack of a game. Problem is I don’t get to play much at all, so I’m finally diving in to join the community and maybe, just maybe, play some RPGs!

oh and I also am an artist who has been really into b/w ink drawings, so the old-school style has really influenced me! Currently I’m getting into modeling and making my own miniatures.

Hi everyone, I’m Xaphrak. I’ve been playing RPGs for around a decade and a half. I’m interested in classic D&D and its various derivatives, as well as Fighting Fantasy and systems based thereon. I’m also a fan of games based on Into the Odd, such as Cairn and Mausritter. I look forward to contributing to the discussion!
